Privacy Policy

How yave handles account, project, media, and usage information.

Last updated: September 29, 2026

1. Scope

This Privacy Policy explains how Happy Computers, the developer of yave ("yave," "we," "us," or "our"), handles information collected through the yave website, browser-based video editor, APIs, and related services (together, the "Services").

yave is a local-first, non-linear video editor. We collect and process information needed to authenticate accounts, operate projects, provide optional cloud and AI features, keep the Services secure, and respond to you.

2. Information you provide

Depending on how you use yave, we may collect:

  • Account information: name, email address, and information returned by Google when you use Google sign-in.
  • Project information: project names, timeline state, edits, revisions, settings, and related metadata.
  • Agent information: prompts, instructions, tool activity, and agent conversation history when you use the editing agent.
  • Media and files: source media, edit proxies, project backups, and indexes when you choose features that upload or process them in the cloud.
  • Messages: information you include when you contact us or request help.

3. Information collected automatically

When you use the Services, we may receive technical and usage information such as your IP address, browser and device type, operating system, approximate location derived from your IP address, timestamps, authentication events, and request or error details. We use this information to operate the Services, prevent abuse, troubleshoot failures, and protect accounts.

yave uses essential cookies and browser storage for authentication, session security, account-scoped local project data, and remembering limited sign-in preferences. We do not use non-essential advertising cookies on the yave marketing site.

4. Local and cloud data

yave is designed to keep source media and file handles on your device when cloud features are not needed. Browser project data and media caches may be stored locally under your account scope. Clearing browser storage, changing browsers, or removing a local file can make local data unavailable.

If you enable or use cloud media upload, project backup, media indexing, or another remote feature, the relevant media or project data is sent to the infrastructure required for that feature. Cloud copies can remain until they expire, are deleted, or are no longer needed for the feature, subject to backups and legal obligations.

5. How we use information

We use information to:

  • create accounts, authenticate users, and maintain sessions;
  • store, synchronize, back up, restore, and isolate projects;
  • upload, process, search, index, edit, render, and export media at your request;
  • run the optional editing agent and preserve its conversation state;
  • provide support and communicate about the Services;
  • monitor performance, investigate errors, prevent abuse, and protect security;
  • understand and improve the Services; and
  • comply with law and enforce our agreements.

We do not use your project media, prompts, or agent conversations to train yave's own AI models. The model and infrastructure providers used to deliver an enabled feature may process the information they receive under their own terms and policies.

6. How we share information

We do not sell personal information. We share information only as needed to provide the Services, including with providers that host authentication and databases, store cloud media or backups, run the configured agent, or provide media indexing and search.

The current Yave implementation may use Better Auth, PostgreSQL, Convex, OpenAI, S3 compatible cloud storage, and—when explicitly enabled—Twelve Labs or another indexing provider. The specific providers and features can change. Each provider receives only the information needed for its role and may process it under its own privacy policy.

We may also disclose information:

  • when you direct us to do so;
  • to comply with law, legal process, or a valid government request;
  • to protect the rights, safety, and security of you, yave, or others; or
  • as part of a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets.

7. Retention and deletion

We retain information for as long as needed to provide the Services, maintain security, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and meet legal obligations. Local data is controlled by your browser and device. You can delete local project data through your device or browser, and you can ask us to delete account-associated information by contacting us. Some records may remain in backups or logs for a limited period or where retention is legally required.

8. Security

We use technical and organizational measures intended to protect information, including authenticated access, account-scoped project storage, access controls, encrypted transport, and server-side validation. No electronic system or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to certain processing of your personal information, or to receive a portable copy. You may also withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. These rights are subject to legal exceptions.

To make a request, email amaan@poke.com. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.

10. Children and international users

The Services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can review and remove it where appropriate.

The Services may be operated using providers in countries other than the country where you live. By using features that transmit information, you understand that information may be processed in those countries, subject to applicable data-protection requirements.

11. Refund policy

We may offer a full refund for a subscription only when both of the following conditions are met: the subscription has been active for fewer than seven days, and usage is less than 10%.

Refund requests that do not meet both conditions are considered case by case and are not guaranteed. To request a refund, contact us at amaan@poke.com.

12. Changes and contact

We may update this Privacy Policy as the Services change. We will post the revised policy on this page and update the date above. The revised policy applies from the date it is posted unless applicable law requires another process.

Privacy questions and requests can be sent to amaan@poke.com.
